For patients who are yet to start dialysis, there are various opportunities for you to learn more about the different types of treatment, to see the equipment that we use in action, to meet the staff and to also meet existing dialysis patients and get a real life account.

These events are aimed at pre-dialysis patients, however, all are welcome. If you are already on dialysis and you want to explore other treatment options then attending these events would also benefit you.

Interactive Workshops

We are offering additional education sessions at the Norfolk and Norwich Kidney Centre for people who may require a kidney transplant/dialysis in their lifetime.

You will have the opportunity to have one-on-one time with members of our specialist team including the renal dieticians, home therapies team (for those considering peritoneal dialysis), dialysis access nurses (for those considering haemodialysis), the renal social worker and patients who are already receiving dialysis treatment.

Over 50% of participants rated their knowledge as 'very poor' prior to the session, with the rest feeling 'not bad, but not great'.

After the session, 100% of participants rated their knowledge as 'very knowledgeable' or 'I am now an expert'.

“A very informative day with great people. Speaking to a current patient on dialysis was helpful as this normalises having a kidney condition and living with it. The counselling was of particular use to me as this is an area which we often neglect and as a male do not engage with. Thank you to all involved for organising this.”
“The renal workshop was very well set up and everything flowed along very smoothly. The staff were very well informed and very helpful. The carers pack and recipe book were an excellent touch. Gordon’s input with the practical tips was very useful.”
“This has been a really helpful opportunity to learn more. The people here are so lovely, and it’s more reassuring hearing it all in detail like this. It’s also a great opportunity to share some experiences with others. Thank you so much for the recipes!”
“Really helpful information, lots that I did not know. Thank you so much to everyone.”
